SHORT & SWEET

Good games for a small window.

A short game is useful after dinner, between plans, or when someone wants to try the hobby without committing an entire evening. These picks have publisher durations of 30 minutes or less. Setup, teaching, and a chatty group can add time.

When the cutoff is firm

Choose a listed 15-minute game if you have only 30 minutes total. Sushi Go! offers card combinations; Qwixx offers dice and risk; Kingdomino offers a compact spatial puzzle. That leaves some room for getting the game ready.

When you want more planning

Splendor gives you a developing engine of purchases within a listed half-hour. It is a better fit when everyone knows the rules and has enough time to think. Skip it for a strict deadline on your very first play.

Know what travels with you

Check the physical box and playing space before buying for travel. A short duration does not guarantee a tiny footprint. Qwixx also needs score sheets and a writing implement for each player.

Recommendations reflect the listed mechanics and publisher information. Follow each game link for its source, edition notes, and details.
