ABOUT BOARDGA

The best game is one
you’ll actually play.

Boardga is a small guide to board and card games for ordinary evenings: two people after dinner, a family around the table, or friends trying something new.

Why a small shelf?

Hundreds of options can make choosing harder. Boardga starts with a manageable selection of approachable games and explains the differences that matter: who can play, how long to allow, and what you will spend your turns doing.

How the games are chosen

We look for games that fill a clear role, such as a two-player puzzle, a short family game, or a cooperative activity. A recommendation should have a reason, and a reason to skip it, too. This is a curated starting point, not a comprehensive ranking of every game.

Facts and opinions are different

Player counts, ages, and listed durations are taken from publisher pages or rules. Each game page links to its source and records when it was checked. Edition differences are noted where relevant.

Mood labels and “good fit” advice are editorial interpretations of those mechanics. These are research-based guides, not claims of hands-on testing. Boardga does not publish invented ratings, customer quotes, or playtest results.

Buying a game

Check the exact edition, language, and box contents with the retailer. Try a local game shop, library, or board-game café if you would like to play before buying. We do not track live prices or availability.

Some retailer links may become affiliate links. Any active affiliate links are disclosed near the link; see our affiliate disclosure for the current position.

Sources and artwork

Game names and artwork belong to their respective owners. The Azul images are sourced from Next Move Games, Patchwork from Lookout Games, and Codenames from Czech Games Edition. Artwork is used to identify and discuss those games. Boardga is independent of these publishers.
